Predictable Print Rotation

There is a per printer default rotation setting. This setting is important if your medium has some kind of pre-marks you need to consider when printing. Or you want a predictable edge for your documents where bonding later on should happen. Or you want to be less surprised how the printer will output your documents. In other words: you rely on the print orientation.

Due to the view orientation (can) differ from the print orientation, the default rotation setting comes into play. The view orientation is what you see, if you open your document with some kind of viewer application. The print orientation is what the printer can do (due to mechanics, medium format, …).

Whenever both orientations differ, the default rotation setting is used to rotate the document into the orientation the printer can print.

Note
The previous information is valid, if the format of your document corresponds to the available medium in your printer. If your document is smaller than the available medium in your printer, there are more options (rotation, scaling, alignment).
The example below is valid if your printer's leading edge is the short one (LIBCAPS_PLE_SHORT).

You want to print a landscape oriented document…

Left: view orientation, right: print orientation
Note
This definition differs from the FAV_ROTATION_CLOCKWISE definition. LIBCAPS_PLE_PLUS_90_DEGREE is meant how the print direction differs from the document direction.
Left: view orientation, right: print orientation
Note
This definition differs from the FAV_ROTATION_COUNTERCLOCKWISE definition. LIBCAPS_PLE_MINUS_90_DEGREE is meant how the print direction differs from the document direction.
